Introductory Meetings: To prepare for your role as a student buddy, you will attend an introductory meeting. This meeting is offered by Student+ and provides a deeper understanding of the role of a student buddy, the guidelines for this role, and more insight into the opportunities within the program so that you can adequately refer students.

Do you find it difficult to concentrate on school matters? Do you find it hard to keep your attention on something and do you often get distracted? Then we would like to invite you to our concentration training! During this training we will work on improving your concentration. You will learn more about concentration and discover new tools that suit you. The training will be given in English, unless only Dutch-speaking students join. At the moment, there is no date scheduled for the training. As soon as there are 3 applications for the training, a date will be scheduled.

At Back on Track, you meet other students who face the same challenges. You get structure and regularity to get back into your study rhythm and work on your motivation and self-confidence, so you can move forward again.
Our goal?
That you feel good, pick up your studies and get back on Track!
What does the programme look like?
During the programme, you will be given the time and support you need to get 'Back on Track' again. The programme lasts 18 weeks on average, but is tailored to your personal needs. Together, we look at what is really needed, both in terms of duration and content.
The course days consist of individual coaching, interactive lessons in small groups and time to work on your personal study goals.
The basis is the same for everyone, with room for customisation. You will work on personal development, study skills and, together with us, you will take the right steps to make your studies sustainable and lead successfully towards graduation!

The good start group is for students who need extra support when starting their studies. You will meet with a group of students for 45 minutes every week.
There is no fixed programme for the Good Start group; together we look at how the start of your studies is going and think with you about questions and challenges you experience.

A mentor is the term for ongoing guidance of a student by a lecturer/trainer within Fontys ICT. For this extra guidance, the lecturer appointed as mentor can be granted 7 extra hours per semester. These hours can only be granted by a dean (Fontys OER). The allocation applies for the entire duration of the study. Students choose their own mentor: a lecturer who is willing and able to fulfil the role of mentor. A mentor can be assigned if there are circumstances that would make it so that the student would benefit having a mentor.
The semester coach remains the point of contact and assessor of the student's professional development.
Step-by-step plan for applying for a mentor
So there is no need to come to Student+ before initiating the request. Of course, we can always check with you if you feel the need. Do you still have questions? Then send an e-mail to studentplus@fontys.nl.
As a student, you may encounter various obstacles during your studies, for which you could use some individual support. A study coach can provide this individual support. The study coaches are not teachers, but volunteers who are connected to Fontys ICT Eindhoven and Tilburg. The study coach will discuss with the student what their need is, examples are: planning, presenting, finding/maintaining an internship, writing skills, doing research, cooperating etc.
Students with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, psychological problems and/or ADD experience more obstacles in their studies. For these students, there are extra coaches available who are familiar with these themes. You can also get guidance from a coach for other coaching questions. You do not need to have a diagnosis to get a coach.

That is why we organise weekly meetings where you can talk with Student+ colleagues and fellow students about issues that concern you. Together, we look for practical tips and tools that can help you get a better grip on your studies.

Personal study choice programme
If you want to explore your study choice or study doubts, the study choice advisers at Fontys are happy to help! This can be done in a personal programme in which we have one or more conversations to find out who you are, what you can do and what you want. Read more here: Study choice adviser.
Explore
In a maximum of two months, you will get to know yourself better and explore what you really enjoy, what you are best at and which (study) choice suits you best. After completing the Explore programme, you will have determined your direction and know what steps you need to take to get there. For more information: Explore.
Empower
Empower is an educational programme for anyone who wants to discover which study programme or next step suits them best. During the programme, you will explore what energises you and where your talents and passions lie, while developing study skills to take your next step in a focused manner. The focus is on personal and professional growth and making choices that really suit you, with personal guidance from the Empower team. The programme lasts 18 weeks (excluding school holidays), with classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and can be followed in Eindhoven and Tilburg. The programme has a study load of 30 credits. If you successfully complete the programme, you can apply for an exemption for the minor of a Fontys programme. Go to the Empower website here.

The Mindful Student — Mental Reset for Working ICT Students
Are you combining your ICT studies with a job and evening classes? Then your cognitive load is structurally high: work decisions, study tasks, deadlines, and context switching — often in the same day.
Attention and mental recovery are trainable skills.
The Mindful Student offers short, practical, evidence-based mindfulness sessions focused on stress resilience and focused communication — designed for technically oriented, working students.
Why it’s relevant for working students
Balancing work and study increases mental fatigue and reduces recovery time. That affects focus, decision quality, and communication.
These sessions help you:

Finding a home as an international student is part of doing your studies with us. It can be very difficult to find a place to live. To guide you in this proces Student+ has made a course with all sorts of documents and tips to help you find a home. Think about tips on where to look and what is a common way to approach this in the Netherlands.

How do you feel about yourself? Are you sleeping well? Do you feel comfortable giving your fellow students feedback? Do you set your own boundaries? Do you enjoy both school and private life? It's great if you can answer these questions positively. But what if you can't? To support your mental fitness and resilience, you can use online self-help modules, also known as e-health, for free with your Fontys account.
Online self-help modules are online modules that you can go through by yourself on various topics. You can do these online modules completely anonymously and independently. You choose which and how many modules you take. You decide when it is convenient for you. Your student coach can also recommend an online module following a conversation with you.
Fontys has purchased these online modules, through an external partner Mirro. In the anonymized online environment of Mirro, you learn to deal with everyday (stress) situations. Each module contains tips, exercises and experience videos. In this way you can work independently on your own mental fitness in an accessible way, to feel good about yourself (again)! For example about giving feedback, sleeping better, getting your study/life balance and dealing with stress as a student. Some modules go into more depth, such as the modules anxiety and panic, brooding and 'Mastering your smartphone'.
The website DE STEP naar gezonder helps you take steps towards a healthier life. This helps you to feel fitter and happier. On this website you will find tips, activities and useful tools that you can start using right away, without having to go to your GP, your health insurer or somewhere else. The use of the website is completely free. However, we sometimes show activities or other tools for which a (small) financial contribution is requested.
An example: you want to feel physically fitter, but you don't know where to start. You go to destapnaargezonder.nl and click on 'Healthy and fit'. You can then choose from topics you want to do something with, for example 'Healthy eating' or 'Good sleep'. Click here to go to the website.

Sexual assault is a term used for any sexual act that a person must perform or endure in an unequal situation. Unequal means that the other person has more power, is stronger, is older or that you are dependent on them. Sexual violence can include sexual assault, rape, sexual abuse or online abuse.

The Sexual Violence Center is for everyone who has been involved with sexual violence. You can contact us securely and anonymously.
